| Elected Delegates Industry Issues and Skills Development Course |

This course is aimed at experienced on-plant/site Delegates with some existing knowledge of workplace practices.
The course provides:
- An introduction to the operation of part time, casual, seasonal, fixed term and probationary employment with emphasis on issues surrounding the seasonal nature of employment in the Meat Industry.
- An examination of the operation of the Holidays Act in the meat industry following the decision of the Employment Court in the recent test case heard by the Court.
- An introduction to dealing with Supervisors and Management. This section to examine issues relating to communication and problem handling at workplace level and build on previous training

| Development Course for Union Officials, Executive Members and Union Organisers |

The course is aimed at the above people in the Union and is designed to provide an introduction to the ERA, and in particular the principles of good faith bargaining. It is also designed to provide officials with detailed information with regard to other aspects of employment relations and employment law concerning new legislation.

The course is aimed at elected departmental delegates from plants within the meat industry, and elected delegates from enterprises operating in the Related Trades area covered by the Union. It is designed to develop the knowledge of these people in relation to the Meat Workers Union and the legislative and legal framework established by the ERA. It will assist participants to better understand employment relations issues at plant level and provide a base for delivery of bargaining and communication skills.

| Basic Health and Safety Delegates Course |

The aim of this course is to provide training to union members to ensure they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to play an active and constructive role in the monitoring and improvement of their workplace health and safety. Topics covered in the course include Hazard Identification in the Meat Industry; Zoonotic Diseases; Physical Injuries from Animals; Muscle Minding in the Meat Industry; and Accident Investigation.

| Bargaining Restructuring Programme |

- define their role as a union delegate;
- understand the range of bargaining options, and relay these options to union members;
