Employees who normally work Monday to Saturday and are required to work
This year Ken is required to work on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Ken normally works Mondays to Saturdays.
Ken will be entitled to his normal payment for the hours worked on Christmas Day and Boxing Day plus half of that amount again (time and a half).
Because both Friday and Saturday are days that Ken would otherwise have been working, he will also become entitled to alternative holidays for each of the days. These alternative holidays can be observed at a later stage by agreement with the employer.
In this case, Boxing Day is observed on the Saturday and not the following Monday because he normally works on Saturday.
